A new app called “Silent Circle” allows users to set an automatic deletion time for messages they send out. Whether it’s after 20 minutes or 20 hours, Silent Circle will delete the message from both the sender and the receiver’s iPhone or Android device for a monthly charge of $20. In addition to deleting potentially harmful messages when read by the wrong person, Silent Circle also protects its users by encrypting calls and texts so that outsiders cannot listen in or tamper with the information exchanged. It even works for video chats or documents sent by email. Everything sent between Silent Circle users will be kept secret with no exception. Silent Circle is so dedicated to its service that it even deletes all trace of web traffic on its website every 7 days.
While the service would be very useful for keeping information private, I could absolutely see the app used as a liaison tool between two lovers; a way for a clandestine affair to stay underground. The app would be the centerpiece of a new daytime television drama: “Silent Circle: The Things She Never Knew.” A ravishing Dr. Suarez lives with his equally beautiful wife. Like many television romances, the relationship has reached a plateau and has grown stagnant. Dr. Suarez finds out about Silent Circle through a colleague who uses it to cheat on his own wife. Watch what happens when Mrs. Suarez sees the doctor’s phone light up across the dark bedroom… only to have no indication of a new message just minutes later when she finally works up the nerve to violate the doctors privacy by checking his phone.
So check Silent Circle out. But be sure to use Google Chrome’s Incognito Browsing—even if all footprints are wiped out every 7 days, you never know who will see them in the meantime.
