The U.S. Debt-Limit Deadline from a Financial Advisor

In late July of 2011 there was a great deal of concern about how the U.S. Debt-Limit decision would affect the markets and those with an RRSP limit.

At this time there was much talk in the press about the deadline for the U.S. to increase its debt limit.  Failure to do so would mean the U.S. Treasury would have to suspend payments to various entitlement programs and some interest rates payments on its debt.  This would technically put the U.S. in default, and could result in the U.S. losing its coveted ‘AAA’ rating by S&P.
