ArtistX 1.2 Released

After nearly ten years of development and more than ten versions, the ArtistX 1.2 multimedia studio on a DVD is finally released. It’s an Ubuntu 11.10-based live DVD that turns a common computer into a full multimedia production studio.

ArtistX 1.2 is created with the Relinux “successor of Remastersys” software for live DVDs and includes the 3.0.0-15 Linux kernel, GNOME 3 and KDE 4.7 and about 2,500 free multimedia software packages, nearly everything that exists for the GNU/Linux operating system organized in the GNOME menu. Unity 5.0 Arrives In Ubuntu 12.04

Ubuntu’s Unity has hit the version 5.0 and is now available for testing in Ubuntu 12.04, the LTS version of Ubuntu slated for April release. Since 12.04 is an LTS version we can be rest assured that it will be extremely stable and perfect fit for those who skipped the 11x series due to Unity and other issues. With 12.04 users may also get the capability to disable the infamous Global Menus. If you are a daredevil and running Ubuntu 12.04 you can test Unity 5.0, rest can either wait of install Ubuntu 12.04 in a virtualbox.

To install Unity 5.0 to 12.04 you need to add this ppa.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:unity-team/ppa

Then update the system

Soon Google could show tablet makers like ASUS, HTC, Lenovo, and Motorola how a real Android tablet is made.
During an interview with an Italian newspaper this week, Eric Schmidt, Google’s Executive Chairman, mentioned plans “to market a tablet of the highest quality”.

The idea sounds similar to Google’s Nexus line of smartphones.

Apple has won another patent dispute against Motorola. One of Motorola’s Android based touch screen devices use photo gallery scrolling technology that goes with Apple’s patent. So Motorola has decided to change its photo viewer. This week a German court decided that Motorola’s photo gallery violates Apple’s patent after hearing the arguments from both parties.
