Scientists Warn: Fake And Poor Quality Malaria Drugs Risk Crisis In Africa
January 18, 2012
Hopes of controlling malaria in Africa could be wrecked by criminals who are circulating counterfeit and substandard drugs, threatening millions of lives, scientists are warning.
They are calling for public health authorities to take urgent action to preserve the efficacy of the anti-malarials now being used in the worst-hit areas of the continent.
There has been growing hope of an end to the age-old scourge of malaria, with U.N. and donor countries having contributed to a massive effort to get modern technological tools to endemic areas, including insecticide-impregnated bed nets and new drugs that had their origins in China, derived from artemisinin plants. What is Impaired Risk?
January 11, 2012
When purchasing life insurance coverage, insurance providers have the right to ask you a number of questions based on the policy they are providing. One of the factors that goes into a company’s quote or decision to provide insurance is called “standard of risk,” which is essentially the probability that the insured person will die while covered by that particular policy. “Impaired risk” is any factor that may make one’s standard of risk higher than the average standard of risk, meaning that the person is more likely to die while covered under the insurance policy. Impaired risk conditions will generally be found in one’s medical history, so impaired risk is not a factor for no medical exam life insurance. Here are some examples of impaired risk conditions:
- Cancer
- Heart problems
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High cholestero...
A Guantanamo prisoner has his day in court
January 6, 2012
The defendants file in—some looking neat and upstanding, some in their best approximation of the same. They all look tired. Sleeping on the floor of a church can do that to a person.
The white haired, slightly amused and always alert judge, the white noise machine when the lawyers confer with the judge, the stern and fit marshals, the wall to wall carpet and wood paneling. Yes—we are in a DC court. Take off your hats, gentlemen and ma’am, no knitting allowed in the court.
The matter before the court is unusual. The defendants are representing themselves, with legal advisors on hand. They stakes are high—if convicted, they could face up to a year in jail.
On June 23, 2011, a day the ...

4 Insights Into Social Media Innovation
December 17, 2011
In a sense there is nothing new in this world.
Communication is communication whether it is by smoke signal, telephone or blog!
So we can all shut down our computers and relax, if there is nothing new to say
..however we know that people have choice, we know that people are using the internet more and more to research and make their purchase.
So if there is nothing really new to say, why bother to use social media?
Because the new is not necessarily inventive…instead…
…it lies in the innovative way we express what we do and the innovative way we show our values – the innovation of expression!
